Ham and potatoes everyone? This recipe is off the charts! I am so glad that I decided to try it because I never would have tasted the delicious flavor of the milk sauce. It is very simple to make yet it tastes incredible. These days, I need something to get my mind of things because of this pandemic we are facing. Thank God, I was able to find a new hobby, which is cooking! This recipe is just one of the many dishes I am going to try. I hope you try it as well. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
1 cup of water
½ teaspoon cream of tartar
5 medium (2-1/4″ to 3″ dia, raw)s potatoes, thinly sliced
1 cup chopped onion
salt and ground black pepper to taste
2 cups of milk
¼ cup all-purpose flour
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
2 cups cubed smoked ham
Directions:
Step 1: In a large mixing bowl, pour in water and cream of tartar. Whisk until well mixed.
Step 2: Add in the potatoes and stir until all the are coated with the saltwater. Remove the potatoes from the salted water.
Step 3: Arrange the onions and potatoes into the slow cooker then season with salt and pepper to taste.
Step 4: Place a saucepan on the stove and turn the heat to medium.
Step 5: Pour in the milk and flour. Stir continuously for 5 minutes or until it starts to boil. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Step 6: Pour in 1/2 of the milk sauce into the potato and onion mixture.
Step 7: Toss in the ham and Cheddar cheese into the slow cooker then pour in the other half of the milk sauce.
Step 8: Seal the slow cooker and turn the setting to low for 9 to 10 hours or 4 1/2 to 5 hours on high setting.
Step 9: Serve and enjoy!
