MONGOLIAN BEEF (PF CHANG’S COPYCAT)

INGREDIENTS :

1 tbsp Vegetable oil
1-2 tsp minced ginger
1 tbsp minced garlic
1/2 c soy sauce
1/2 c water
3/4 c dark brown sugar
1 c Vegetable oil
1 1/2 pounds flank steak
1/2 c cornstarch
1/4 tsp red pepper flakes, optional
1 bunch green onions, cut on diagonal into 2-inch pieces

INSTRUCTIONS :

Step 1: Place a medium saucepan on the stove and turn the heat to medium.

Step 2: Add in 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil and allow it to become hot.

Step 3: Add in the garlic and ginger. Sauté for about 30 seconds until aromatic.

Step 4: Add in water, soy sauce, and brown sugar. Allow the mixture to boil.

Step 5: Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for about 10 to 15 minutes or until the sauce is thick.

Step 6: Slice the flank steak into 1/4-inch cuts.

Step 7: In a small mixing bowl with cornstarch. Toss in the flank steak and coat them well. Allow the steak to sit in the bowl for 10 to 15 minutes.

Step 8: Place a large pan on the stove and turn the heat to medium.

Step 9: Add in vegetable oil and allow it to become hot.

Step 10: Add in the beef and cook each side for about 2 to 3 minutes or until brown. Make sure to cook the beef in batches.

Step 11: Discard the grease from the pan and add in the sauce.

Step 12: Turn the heat back to medium and cook for about a minute while stirring continuously.

Step 13: Add in the green onions and red pepper flakes.

Step 14: Remove the pan from the heat.

Step 15: Top a bowl of rice with the beef and some sauce.

Step 16: Serve and enjoy!
