You can see me sipping on an easy watermelon margarita all summer long. You will probably find me sipping on every margarita because I have never met a margarita that I haven’t enjoyed. It may just be my favorite simple margarita recipe because all you need to do is throw it into a blender and serve with a salt rim over a glass. Unlike a classic margarita with simple syrup and a triple-sec orange liqueur, this watermelon margarita recipe uses three main ingredients: lime juice, tequila, and fresh watermelon. You’ll need ice and salt for your glass rim too.
Ingredients:
2 cups cubed seeded watermelon
2 cups crushed ice
⅓ cup tequila
¼ cup white sugar
¼ cup lime juice
1 tbsp vodka
1 tbsp orange liqueur
Directions:
Add and combine watermelon, ice, tequila, sugar, lime juice, vodka, and orange liqueur in a blender; blend well. Then pour margaritas into glasses.
Notes:
You can consider this as an excellent drink for kids to enjoy when made without alcohol.
Honestly, this cocktail tastes fantastic on its own, but salt the rim of your glass if you want to step it up to the next level. To do this, rub a lime wedge on the rim of an empty margarita glass, and dip the rim into a small plate of coarse sea salt or kosher salt. Then fill the prepared glass with ice, pour in the watermelon juice mixture, and mix in the vodka, and that’s it.
Any time you do a cocktail at home, taste, and tweak to find a flavor balance that you love. If you want a sweeter cocktail, add the watermelon and lime juice as an extra splash. Squeeze in extra lime for more tartness. Add some extra jalapeño slices and let it last for a few minutes if you want it to be spicier. Mess, and make it your version of this recipe.
