easy microwave cake

This quick and easy microwave cake is perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth when you don’t have time for baking. It’s soft, moist, and incredibly customizable!

Ingredients

  • 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 4 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder (optional, for a chocolate cake)
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • A pinch of salt
  • 5 tablespoons milk
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil or melted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional: Chocolate chips, nuts, or sprinkles for mix-ins

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Batter:
    • In a microwave-safe bowl or large mug, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder (if using), baking powder, and salt.
    • Add the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Stir until the batter is smooth and lump-free.
  2. Optional Add-Ins:
    • Mix in chocolate chips, nuts, or sprinkles for extra texture and flavor.
  3. Microwave:
    • Microwave the cake batter on high for 1 minute and 30 seconds to 2 minutes, depending on your microwave’s wattage.
    • Start checking at 1:30 to ensure the cake doesn’t overcook. The cake is ready when the top is set and springs back when gently touched.
  4. Cool and Serve:
    • Let the cake cool for a couple of minutes before digging in.
    • Optionally, top with whipped cream, frosting, powdered sugar, or a drizzle of chocolate syrup.
