Crispy Bacon Chicken Wraps

Ingredients

For the Chicken:

2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

1 cup buttermilk (for marinating)

1 cup all-purpose flour

½ cup cornstarch

1 tsp paprika

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp salt

½ tsp black pepper

½ tsp cayenne pepper (optional)

1 egg

2 tbsp water

Oil for frying

For the Bacon:

6 strips of bacon

1 tsp maple syrup (optional for a sweet touch)

For the Wraps:

4 large flour tortillas

1 cup shredded lettuce

1 tomato, sliced

½ red onion, thinly sliced

½ cup shredded cheddar cheese

½ cup ranch dressing (or honey mustard, BBQ sauce, or mayo)

Instructions

Step 1: Marinate the Chicken

1. Cut the chicken breasts into strips or small fillets.

2. Place the chicken in a bowl and pour buttermilk over it. Let it marinate for 30 minutes to 1 hour (this makes the chicken tender and juicy).

Step 2: Cook the Bacon

1. Preheat a pan over medium heat.

2. Lay the bacon strips flat and cook for 3-4 minutes per side until crispy.

3. If using maple syrup, brush it on the bacon in the last minute of cooking.

4. Transfer to a paper towel to drain excess grease.

Step 3: Fry the Chicken

1. In a bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.

2. In another bowl, whisk egg and water together.

3. Remove the chicken from the buttermilk, dip it in the flour mixture, then into the egg wash, and again into the flour (this double-coating makes it extra crispy).

4. Heat oil in a pan to 170°C (340°F) and fry the chicken for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.

5. Drain on a paper towel.

Step 4: Assemble the Wraps

1. Lay a flour tortilla on a clean surface.

2. Spread ranch dressing (or preferred sauce) evenly.

3. Add a layer of shredded lettuce, tomatoes, and red onion.

4. Place crispy chicken and bacon strips on top.

5. Sprinkle with shredded cheese.

6. Fold the sides of the tortilla, then roll it tightly from the bottom.

Step 5: Toast the Wraps (Optional)

1. Heat a dry pan or grill over medium heat.

2. Place the wrap seam-side down and cook for 1-2 minutes per side until lightly toasted.
