The casserole is one of my favourite cooking varieties. And this Chicken and Dumplings Casserole is my forever go-to for a delicious dinner with my family. Easy to prepare and require only a few simple ingredients. Not fussy, just plain delicious!
Ingredients:
1 chicken
1 small diced onion
1 stick butter
2 cups Bisquick
2 cups of milk
1 can(s) cream of chicken soup
1 tablespoon (or cube) chicken broth paste
1 teaspoon poultry seasoning
salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
Step 1: Place a pot on the stove and add enough water.
Step 2: Turn the heat to high and add in the chicken, onion, salt, and pepper.
Step 3: Bring the water to a boil.
Step 4: Remove the chicken from the pot and place it in a bowl. Debone and set aside.
Step 5: Prepare the oven and preheat to 175 degrees C or 350 degrees F.
To Make Layer #1:
Step 1: Pour in 1 stick of melted butter in a 9×12-inch baking dish.
Step 2: Add and spread the chicken on top of the butter. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
To Make Layer #2:
Step 1: In a medium mixing bowl, add 2 cups of Bisquick, milk, and poultry seasoning. Stir until well mixed.
Step 2: Pour the mixture over the chicken layer. Make sure not to stir.
To Make Layer #3:
Step 1: In a small mixing bowl, add paste and 2 cups of warm broth. Stir until well mixed.
Step 2: Pour the mixture over the dish. Make sure not to stir.
Step 3: Place it inside the preheated oven and bake for 50 to 60 minutes or until the colour turns golden brown.
Step 4: Remove from the oven and let it sit on a wire rack to cool for 10 to 15 minutes at room temperature.
Step 5: Serve and enjoy!
