This will surely be the best dish you will ever have! Oh, man, you are so in for a treat!
Ingredients:
1½ lb 1-inch-thick sirloin steak
1/3 c cornstarch
¼ c canola oil
¼ tsp salt
1 tbsp fresh grated ginger
4 tbsp garlic, minced
Red pepper flakes or chilli oil
1/3 c reduced-sodium tamari sauce (for gluten-free), or soy sauce if you prefer
½ c water
1/3 c brown sugar
8 stalks scallions, green parts only, cut into 2-inch pieces
Directions:
Step 1: Slice into 1/4-inch-thick cuts the steak.
Step 2: Cover the steak slices with plastic wrap and pound them with a meat mallet.
Step 3: Transfer the meat into a resealable bag and together with cornstarch. Massage the meat slices to make sure they are well coated with the cornstarch.
Step 4: Place a large frying pan on the stove and turn the heat to medium-high.
Step 5: Add canola oil and allow it to become hot.
Step 6: Put the steak into the hot oil and cook each side for 30 seconds. Remove them from the pan to a clean plate. Season the meat slices with salt.
Step 7: Repeat the process to the rest of the meat slices.
Step 8: In the same pan, add the garlic, ginger, red pepper flakes, and chilli oil. Sauté for about 15 seconds.
Step 9: Add the tamari, brown sugar, and water. Stir until well mixed and allow it to boil.
Step 10: Put the steak back to the pan and toss until well coated with the sauce. Simmer until the texture of the sauce becomes thick.
Step 11: Remove the pan from the heat and sprinkle green onions on top.
Step 12: Serve over rice and enjoy!
