How to make 20-Minute Sausage Pasta Skillet
Step 1: Following the package directions, cook the pasta until al dente. Drain when done and set aside.
Step 2: In a large skillet, heat a little oil over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add the sausages to the skillet and cook until all sides are brown. To keep the sausages from sticking to the pan or blacken, you can pour in 1/4 c. (60ml) of water into the pan. To a cutting board, transfer the sausages when they are almost cooked.
Step 3: Drain the water from the skillet, but leave the brown bits. Next, add 1 tbsp oil, onions, crushed fennel seeds, crushed chilli pepper flakes, and Italian seasoning. Saute, then add the garlic and ground tomato. Continue to cook for a few minutes more while stirring constantly. Next, add the bell peppers and diced tomatoes. Cook further until the veggies are crisp-tender. Pour in the broth, stir, and cook for about a minute more. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Step 4: Into 1/4 or 1/2-inch pieces, slice the sausage and return to the skillet. Continue to cook along with the other ingredients for another 5 to 10 minutes or until the sausage is done and the sauce has thickened.
Step 5: To the skillet, add the pasta and heat for a few minutes. Gently toss to coat the pasta.
Step 6: Before serving, garnish with basil, chopped scallion, and Parmesan cheese. Enjoy!
