1/3 c butter

3/4 c milk

1/3 c flour

2 c mixed veggies… whatever you want… I used peas, corn, and green beans

3 c leftover turkey or chicken cut into cubes

1 small onion, chopped

1 1/2 c chicken broth

1/8 tsp dried thyme

salt & pepper to taste


1 large egg

1 c vegetable shortening… I used Earth Balance a non-GMO organic canola/soy mix shortening but any kind will do

2 c unbleached or white ap flour

2 tbsp ice-cold water

1/4 tsp salt


Prepare the oven and preheat to 425 degrees C or 220 degrees C.

Put a large pan on the stove over medium heat.

Add butter and let it melt completely.

Add flour, then whisk and cook for a minute to remove the raw taste.

Add the thyme, salt, pepper, and onion. Stir until well blended and the texture becomes thick.

Remove the pan from the stove, then add the broth and milk. Stir until well blended.

Place the pan back on the stove, then allow the mixture to boil for a minute. Make sure to stir continuously.

Add the turkey and veggies, then stir until well mixed.

Add one pie crust into a 9-inch pan, then pour the mixture in it and spread it evenly.

Place the second crust over and seal the edges.

Use a fork to poke small holes all over the crust.

Place it inside the preheated oven and bake for about 40 minutes or until golden brown.

Let it cool at room temperature for a few minutes at room temperature.

Serve and enjoy!

For the Crust:

Add salt and flour into a bowl. Whisk until well blended.

Add the shortening and beat until well blended.

In a separate bowl, add vinegar, egg, and water. Beat until well blended.

Add the mixture into the flour mixture, then stir until well mixed.

Divide the dough in half.

Shape the first dough into a circle, then roll it up. Place it into two waxed paper sheets.
