I have never tried deep-fried s’ mores before and I am so glad that I decided to follow this recipe because I never would have tasted how awesome these bad boys would taste fried. Give it a try now. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
S’mores:
9 graham cracker sheets
2 cups mini marshmallows
2 cups chocolate chips, or 8 oz baking chocolate, divided
Batter:
2 large eggs
2 tsp oil
1 1/2 cups milk
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
6 tbsp granulated sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
Frying & Serving:
1-quart vegetable oil, for frying
powdered sugar, optional for serving
Directions:
To make the S’ mores:
Step 1: Line with parchment paper an 8×8-inch pan.
Step 2: Arrange the graham crackers on the bottom of the pan.
Step 3: In a medium mixing bowl, add 1 cup of chocolate chips. Place it inside the microwave and allow it to melt. Stir every 30 seconds until the texture becomes smooth.
Step 4: Pour in about 1/3 of the melted chocolate over the graham crackers. Add the remaining chocolate chips over followed by another 1/3 of the melted butter, and finally with marshmallows. Allow it to rest.
Step 5: Spread another layer of graham cracker on top. Place it inside the fridge to chill for 10 minutes.
To Make the Batter:
Step 1: Place a saucepan on the stove. Add oil and allow it to heat to 220 degrees C.
Step 2: In a medium mixing bowl, add the eggs, milk, and oil. Whisk until creamy and well mixed.
Step 3: In a separate mixing bowl, add the baking powder, sugar, flour, and salt. Stir until well mixed.
Step 4: Transfer the egg mixture into the flour mixture. Whisk until well mixed.
Step 5: Line a large plate with paper towels. Get the s’ mores from the refrigerator.
Step 6: Slice the s’ mores with a sharp knife into a 6×6 grid. This will make 36 even pieces. If some breaks, you can use melted butter to tighten them up.
Step 7: Dip the s’ mores into the batter. Remove the excess dip.
Step 8: Place the s’ mores into the heated oil and cook for 1 minute or until the colour turns golden brown.
Step 9: Place the cooked s’ mores on a clean plate.
Step 10: Sprinkle powdered sugar over the fried s’ mores.
Step 11: Serve and enjoy!
Notes:
You can use pancake mix instead of making your batter.
Make sure to let the s’ mores chill in the fridge before frying.
