Simple, delicious, and classic.
Cabbage is such an humble vegetable. Although it’s simple and inexpensive, it can be made rich in flavor and sweetness if you pay attention to it. Southern Fried Cabbage is my favorite way to make it. It’s quick and easy and makes a delicious side dish.

10m prep time
20m cook time
INGREDIENTS
1 lb bacon, chopped
1 white onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 head green cabbage, cored and chopped into bite-sized pieces
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
PREPARATION
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook bacon until crispy. Remove to a paper towel-lined plate to drain, but leave drippings in pan.
Add onion to skillet and cook until soft, 6-8 minutes. Add garlic and cook 1 minute more.
Add chopped cabbage, along with paprika, cayenne pepper (if using), and season with salt and pepper.
Cook, stirring frequently, until cabbage is tender, 8-10 minutes. Add bacon back to skillet and stir to combine.
Serve and enjoy!
